Unit 1 – Kathie Kerler
Kathie is a City and Guilds graduate in design and embroidery, a 3½- year program from London, England. She has also studied at the Lesage School of Needlework in Paris, France. For seven years, she was a contributing editor to American Quilter magazine, writing and contracting articles and patterns. She is a certified judge through the National Association of Certified Quilt Judges and one of their Qualified Instructors of the Two-Day Judging Seminar. Presently, she is working on a book on machine embroidery.
Unit 2/3 – Colleen Ansbaugh
Colleen is a resident of Northern Wisconsin with her husband, Chip, and two very spoiled dogs (who rule the roost). She earned a degree in Textiles and Clothing as well as a Masters in Business. Currently a Regional Co-Rep for Illinois and Wisconsin, Colleen is also a fiber art and quilting instructor. Nature continues to be a source of her inspiration. Colleen embellishes surfaces by hand stitching on her hand dyed fabrics.
Unit 4 – Lee Vause
Lee is an energetic individual who has successfully transitioned into retirement from full time work as a Chief Executive Officer in the provision of Public Health Services through hospitals in the state of Victoria Australia. In addition to having an online shop, Lee offers long arm quilting services and teaches a full range of styles to include Zentangle, quilting and some textile art. She has most recently launched an online class through the Academy of Quilting and teaches in venues in Australia and abroad.
Unit 5 – Susie Monday
Susie is an artist and teacher who works from her studio in Pipe Creek, near San Antonio, Texas. Her large textile collage stitched art evokes the culture, stories and landscapes of the Texas Borderlands. Working in mixed media on fabric, Susie dyes, screen prints and/or digitally designs much of the fabrics she uses. She both free motion stitches and uses large embroidery hand stitch on her work. “ Stitch for me adds the elements of line and movement. I love to use stab stitch and large cross stitches to depict the unseen — but oh-so-felt — energy that swirls around the universe.”
